Lebron 3.5
  6.70 / 10
Trung thought the Lebron III looked clunky, heavy and nearly boot-like. Therefore he tried a sleeker, lighter look to the shoe. He also went away from the visible full length Zoom Max system that's visible in the 2 and the 3.The shoe still uses Zoom Max, but is no longer the main design element. The shoe is built around a full length perforated bootie with three big cuts to allow superior air flow. Also, following the Free concept, the upper consists of individual straps to allow maximum flexibility.

July 2005 - Lebron 3.5
Zoom Lebron 7/2
  6.80 / 10
Lebron is from akron ohio so Wayne took inspiration from that. He learned that there was an air museum called Maps and thought it would be a good fit since Lebron will eventually end up in a different sort of museum...the Hall of Fame. He also took some inspiration from an airplane canopy. See details page for more info. The 7/2 is part of nike's .5 series. 7 represents seven days in a week. this convertible shoe was created to be worn all days. The 2 respresents the two modes that the shoe can be worn in: game and casual. The quarter of this shoe can be removed with a press and a slide. This shoe is also equipped with zoom air. And of course, once you divid 7 by 2 you get the 3.5.

Lebron 3.5 Air Zoom Claw
  8.52 / 10
The only thing more aggressive and intimidating than the name Air Zoom Claw is the shoe itself. Edgar's out to silence his critics with the Lebron 3.5. The rendering is an instant neckbreaker but yet not quite so over the top. The overall shoe is tough and sturdy which should Lebron just fine. There's a feel of the mid 90's Golden Era of Nike design here. The straps remind us of the Bo Jackson cross trainers in 93 but in this case also portrays claws that wraps around the foot. The reverse Swoosh brings us plenty of nostalgia and the open ankle Huarache like fit just makes you want to snuggle your feet into the shoe.

RYAN HOLLER

July 2005 - Lebron 3.5
LeBron 3.5
  6.88 / 10
Designed as a 2006 summer shoe, Ryan scaled back in bulk and weight from Lebron's regular season kicks. Zoom Air remains, but visible only through a small window. The window and the PU mid-sole styling harken back to the Air Flight 89, one of Ryan's favorite sneakers of all time. The leather that covers sections of the retro-styled mid-sole give the shoe a modern reference to both the LeBron II & III. The heel area carries the clearest styling tie to the LeBron III. The single layer thermo-formed synthetic upper draws inspiration from the Zoom Flight 2k3, which LeBron wore during many his rookie camp games. Large perforations provide ventilation for hooping in the summer heat. Providing strategic flexibility and even more ventilation are asymmetrical slices at the ankles echoing the shape of the Zoom Air windows at the mid-sole. Excessive sweating that occurs during summer games can cause a lightly constructed shoe to stretch at the forefoot. The strap allows a quick tighten-up without adjusting the laces from the bottom up.

July 2005 - Lebron 3.5
Lebron 3.5
  6.56 / 10
The inspiration behind this shoe came following 2 different aspect of LBJ game and style. The first thing was the game of football which was played by the teenager Lebron at SVSM H.S., even in the basketball sport the aggressive, tough but fair style is a key feature of the King's game. The second aspect dress style of Lebron, which, depending on the occasion, becomes elegant or sporty. After trying different midsole technologies, Peterflight's choice was to accept the challenge on making a total different shoe starting on the same molds and techs of the Lebron 3. Given the straight-lined midsole, he continued the geometric style even for the upper which is made by a combination of different triangles. In the topographic science, triangles are used to describe the earth surface because they perfectly match the real shape of the ground, so triangular construction should provide better fit (matching perfectly the foot shape), support and durability (due to the multi stitched panels) of the upper. The panels are also made of mesh, plain leather and laser cut perfed leather parts to provide the better combination of support/breathability in the needing areas.

Lebron James 3.5
  6.40 / 10
The design continues the unique style of previous LJ generations while adding a fresh appearance. Upper features rich full-grain leather and lightweight, durable ballistic mesh. Integrated ankle strap offers enhanced stability. The look of the strap also matches LJ's head band. Embossed LJ pattern on upper and LJ's signature on sidewall of phylon midsole. Large-volume visible Zoom Air units in the heel and forefoot offer excellent cushioning.

July 2005 - Lebron 3.5
Lebron James 3.5
  7.31 / 10
Mark's first time finalist appearance shows off a monumental effort. Not only does he shows off all possible angles of the shoe, he even included two views of the perforated insole. How's that for details? The Old English lion 23 logo is also fitting for the theme. Check out the various colorways as well as the sketches.

July 2005 - Lebron 3.5
Lebron 3.5
  5.72 / 10
Why a 3.5? Because there's no off-season for the king.
  • Non-stretch mesh throughout the saddle allows for ventilation during games in the heat of summer
  • Minimal outsole reduces weight, but provides stability
  • internal Zoom Air (beneath the double-lasted upper) provides shock-absorbtion, even on the least-forgiving surfaces
  • Lateral CMEVA wing, with TPU "claws" provides support for the larger, quicker player during hard cuts
  • The lion's claws wrap the midsole and provide a new recognizeable graphic
  • Asymmetrical construction provides visual interest and support which is reinforced with internal ghillies and a filament membrane

    THOMAS HARTINGS

    July 2005 - Lebron 3.5
    Lebron 3.5
      6.50 / 10
Even thought Thomas rushed this design a bit (in a two day period), we see a lot of potential in his abilities to become a mainstream finalist. Ankle and midfoot strap are there for a tight fit. The hand drawn design is clean and fundamentally sound. At Ohio State Univ, where Thomas goes to school, they stress process and smart design rather then eye popping flash designs that doesn't necessarily work. With a little bit more practice and refinement, we should expect big things from him in the future.

    July 2005 - Lebron 3.5
    3.5 Revolution
      6.12 / 10
The 3.5 revolution seeks to be not merely a evolution of the three like most .5's. It is a revolution by introducing new technology and performance enhancing features while keeping with LBJ's design cues. It has the overall look of a powerful yet sleek shoe. It features Max Zoom but creates more flexibility underfoot with a large cutout on the medial side. Also, the traditional carbon fiber shank plate is replaced with the Tension system where lightweight strands retains torsional and arch stability with minimal weight.

    July 2005 - Lebron 3.5
    Lebron 3.5
      6.68 / 10
Instead of making something that looked rugged and militaristic, Doug wanted to do something that would match the grace and finesse that are a major part of LeBron's game while maintaining a feeling of power. He did this by making the midsole extend up the side of the foot, for both support and aesthetics. The upper would be a soft, smooth leather, and the medial side of the shoe would have a large mreathable mesh panel. The straps would be a combination of leather and smooth mesh, and they velcro on the medial side of the foot. Overall, this simple white/black design stands out from many of this month's entries.
