September 2005 - Freestyle | Jordan Mars Blackmon Congratulations to Joe Im, who surprisingly only has 1 win under his belt. His Bioglide and Mar's renderings rank among some of the most popular Artist Series submissions of all time. Joe's entry will also be one of 10 finalist for the Rendering of the Year.

PIETRO PELLICELLI Friday, September 23, 2005
 September 2005 - Freestyle 2005 | Adidas Agassi C.C.
6.63 / 10 By now, everyone has heard of Andre Agassi's incredible run in the 2005 U.S. Open. Andre also switched to adidas after a spectacular career and anchor of the Nike Tennis lineup. Pietro's freestyle creation's main features are the laceless climacool upper made of mesh and sinthetic panels; the three "velcroed" adidas stripes secures the fit while letting the world know what brand Agassi is wearing. Underneath these straps a microperforated synthetic leather layer (with proper padded areas) acts to spread loads over the top surface. The high wrapping midsole secures lateral stability while keeping the foot cooled. Cushioning is also provided by forefoot adiprene+ and heel adiprene visible pad.
Some little details are taken from old adidas sneakers to pay tribute to the striped brand glorious history.
The design also makes possible to create new cool colorways to match different sets of tennis unis; this one just resembles the white/purple/orange one of 92's Air Tech Challenge 3/4.

THOMAS HARTINGS Thursday, September 22, 2005
 September 2005 - Freestyle 2005 | Nike e
7.46 / 10 Thomas wanted to come up with something original for the freestyle competition. Most of the inspiration from the all new Mitsubishi's e concept. The car elements are evident in the triangular cutouts (headlights), color scheme, and the fact that the shoes will be lightweight. The idea is for a shoe without laces that has an inner sock which is supported by a midfoot and ankle strap. Hopefully, the shoes will sell better than the car.

WAYNE RUSSELL Wednesday, September 21, 2005
 September 2005 - Freestyle 2005 | Rbk Diplomat
6.62 / 10 Wayne wasn't satisfied with the rbk shoe he submitted for the previous freestyle contest so he decided to revisit the concept. He kept the idea of connecting the heel to the tongue. For further inspiration, Wayne thought about various events that took place in the month of september such as a west indian day parade that took place in NYC on Labor Day. His family is from the islands of St.Kitts and Nevis and decided to explore the idea further. Initially, he thought about using particular locations and structures on these islands but then decided it would be a little more interesting to use the national flag.

 September 2005 - Freestyle 2005 | Jordan Mars Blackmon
8.54 / 10 Joe Im's entry is inspired by the great Mars Blackmon.
Upper: Combination full-grain leather and nubuck upper
takes subtle design cues from the AJ III and AJ V
(Check the flames).
Midsole: Phylon midsole with regionalized zoom air
cushioning for lightweight performance. The flex
groove in the forefoot was inspired by the AJ XI. I
basically wanted to keep the midsole clean and simple.
Outsole: This classic outsole was inspired by hanging
tiles on the ceiling of Madison Square Garden. It's
also dedicated to the infamous double-nickel
performance. Another subtle cue here is the
inscription on the circular pivot point which gives
the address of MSG.

LEI WANG Sunday, September 18, 2005
 September 2005 - Freestyle 2005 | Rbk Hero
6.27 / 10 "RBK Hero" is one of the Ming Dynasty team shoes. Lei was inspired by world
famous director Zhang Yimou's martial art epic "HERO" when designing this
shoe. In one stunning scene in the film, Nameless (played by Jet Li) faces an army of a thousand archers. As they fire, the sky darkens with millions of arrows that whistled through the air. You can see some ancient weapons have
become the design elements on this shoe including arrows, swords and
shields. Since Yao Ming is a big hero to his basketabll fans in
China, "RBK Hero" is a perfect shoe to fit in Lei's Ming Dynasty Series.

MIKE ABDELNOUR Friday, September 16, 2005
 September 2005 - Freestyle 2005 | Nike Huarache 2K6
5.12 / 10 The shoe was designed to be breathable and supportive. The strap is used to keep the foot on the footbed at all times while also removable to be flexible. It is designed to be anchored on the medial side then looped into the lateral hole and pulled back towards the medial side using velcros to attach it. The shoe also features zoom air with an overlasted midsole to keep the shoe looking sleek and low to the ground. The materials used are full grain leather from the toe up to the huarache loop (with vent holes in the middle area), patent leather on the strap and side flaps and a new, highly breathable yet resilient mesh on the side panels. The injection molded TPU heel counter keep the heel stable at all times.

JOE SATTLER Thursday, September 15, 2005
 September 2005 - Freestyle 2005 | Air Tara
5.64 / 10 Freestyle is a chance to go beyond basketball shoes and Joe takes the time to design a woman's running shoe. More importantly, it is designed specifically for a special friend of his. She's in college and Joe rarely gets to see her anymore. We are not sure if it is the girl's name but the shoes are called the Air Tara. Joe misses her and as Kasey Kasem would say on America's Top 40 Countdown every weekend, "this is your request and dedication"...
