 July 2006 - Wadeness | Converse Wade
4.70 / 10 The inspiration for my design came when i read about the previous converse Wade, and how the vents were inspired by shark gills, also referring to wades attacks to the basket.. i felt that in order to become a lasting phenomenon by itself, the converse wades needed a broader theme. so for this shoe i chose water, which follows from the shark idea.. focussing on wade being the shark, and the water aiding him in his drives. so the flexibility of the shoe comes from the flow of water. also, the lines represent the leap of water, a surge of power from the forefoot. water can conceal as well as reveal, and so the shroud/ upper both covers the laces yet seems to flow over them, as the silhouette is revealed. the overall profile of the shoe again hints at water flowing from the top preserving the organic curves of a foot.

 July 2006 - Wadeness | Wadeness Concept
5.79 / 10 Lingsong's concept is mostly derived from ability of a shoe to fully protect the ankle. The rear carbon fiber provides stability from heel to ankle. The big round side walls are fitted to prevent ankle from inversion.

 July 2006 - Wadeness | Converse Wade All-Star II
8.12 / 10 There are 5 simple reasons why the Converse Wade 2 All-Star is considered the "ultimate light-weight performance basketball shoe". Lets start from the top...
- FIT/STABILITY: its Upper is constructed with rich full-grain leather panels, enhanced by patent leather, which not only provides added stability in key areas, but also adds a hint of refined luxury.
NB) Notice the over-sized Converse "Chevron" which elevates brand recognition.
- VENTILATION: Perforations allow for excellent ventilation; a wire mesh 'window' backed with reflective 3M material provides added breathability, as well as adds some "flash" aesthetically. Its comfortably plush mesh tongue employs Nike's dri-fit technology.
- FIT/COMFORT: A 'cut-out' at the back of the heel collar allows just enough flexibilty of the heel without compromising fit and stability.
- STABILITY/RESPONSIVENESS: Its over-lasted midsole is simple yet responsive; made of highly-resilient compression molded EVA foam, topped by a molded EVA sockliner. A strategically sculpted and placed carbon-fiber shank is light-weight and provides exceptional support of the arch at the midsole and also adds some "spring". The shank absorbs most of the impact forces at foot-strike, then reflects that 'energy' back to the foot.
- DURABILTY: The carbon rubber outsole features a deeply-molded, modified herringbone pattern which provide provides excellent traction. Flex grooves allow flexibility where it is needed. The carbon-fiber shank can be seen through the translucent area of the outsole; another excellent detail.

 July 2006 - Wadeness | DWade
7.16 / 10 The design tries to replicate Dwayne Wades persona.. The upper is design very simple to mimic wades simplicity and smooth flow. Hidden in the simplicity are several tech elements applied to assist Wade in his explosive game. The large chevron on the side not only indicates that this is a converse shoe, it also acts as a lock down strap like device to keep Dwades feet secure and stable when he makes those hard cuts to the basket. The shoe is perfed strategically in places to help dissipate heat and moisture which is not only very good on the court, but because Dwayne is a huge star in Miami ( obviously ), it will help during the hot humid summers in Miami for those who play outdoors on the hot blacktops or strolling along South Beach. The shoe features a hidden lace system which aids in giving the shoe an aerodynamic look. Much like the first Wades, this will come with a full length inner bootie to give you the comfort you need. The outsole was designed to show case Dwades explosive game. The herringbone outsole features a red translucent Flash which can also be Wades jersey number 3. This was designed so that when Dwade runs the court or sours for a fade a way or dunk, all you would see is this red flash. Also on the outsole are the Words Champion, Humility, Heart, and Family. Which are spelled out in different languages. This idea was inspired actually by a McDonalds bag which gives you “Im Loving It” in multiple languages. ( Dwades favorite restaurant is McDonalds ) Other features of the shoe include a carbon fiber shank plate. Molded heel counter. Zoom Air like cushioning system to give Dwade much more protection through out the basketball season.

 July 2006 - Wadeness | Converse Wade 2
5.67 / 10 The Converse Wade 2 plays strong and fast, like Dwayne. Its layered upper gives the shoe a tough look while aggressive lines make the shoe appear fast as well. Leather overlays were inspired by the tough skin of a rhinoceros, but the shoe does not lack in breathe ability due to a mesh sockliner which is exposed on the lateral side. This mesh sockliner is exposed at the foot's flex point allowing for ultimate mobility without compromising stability.

July 2006 - Wadeness | Converse Wade II
5.96 / 10 My concept for the Wade II is based on the speed and agression of D-Wade.
The shape and forms of the shoe are designed to look almost like wind
passing over the foot. I also wanted to have the organic elements coming
from the elegant black toe to add a sense of movement coming from a solid
piece.
The foot is secured into the Wade II by a series of horizontal straps which
fasten on the rear of the foot. Although this design would be difficult to
make work in real life, I really liked the way the concept looked and the
unique style of foot entry.

 July 2006 - Wadeness | Flash
4.91 / 10 This design ties to incapsulate Dwyane's style, charisma and "Flash."
There is no other player in the league like Dwyane, and he needs a shoe
that matches his game. This design uses a revolutionary hidden rachet
system that securely lockes in the foot when pulled and can release at the
push of a button. The shoe is made of a rich synthetic leather upper,
breathable nylon mesh, lightweight phylon midsole, and durrable
lightweight rubber outsole.
