 August 2006 - Freestyle 2006 | Nike N
         6.03 / 10 meet n:
inspired by apple's ipod nano, the nike n aims at capturing the essence of the nano- performance, beauty, and good design. the n is evolved from the nanoglide concept, retaining its key technologies while developing the features better.
the nano's personalisability inspired the interchangeable heel cushioning pods, and the customisable strap.
similar to the nano's clear and coloured tubes, the n's pods come in transparent (air capsule) and colours (zoom) keeping with the pop flavour of the nano.
the duality that stands out in the nano's design - two colourways, and the semi organic / metallic contrasting materials on the device (front / back) - were highlighted throughout the n,
especially in the outsole that leaps up in a surge of power at the forefoot, wrapping around the foot in a double streak.
the heel pods are attached by magnetic snap buttons to the heel counter as well as to the outsole.
throughout the n, the focus (both form wise as well as function wise) has been on the forefoot- retaining the nanoglides philosophy of exerting greater pressure on the forefoot, ie, running instead of walking down the court.
that is why the forefoot retains the free+shox cushioning technology first featured on the nanoglide. More colorways.

 August 2006 - Freestyle 2006 | Nike Liquid Skin
         7.38 / 10 "A rheopexic fluid is a material which thickens with
increasing shear stress........which results from
repeated applications of pressure and/or shock forces"
The Nike Liquid Skin is a shoe designed to use
rheopexic fluid as its principle support structure.
Starting at ground level the shoe rides on sole which
utilises Nike IPS technology to give maximum comfort
and court feel. The base layer of the upper is
comprised of a full length lycra bootie with a
traditional plastic heel counter. This offers a sock
like fit - similar to a presto shoe but with a
slightly stronger fabric weave. Overlaying this bootie
is a support cage comprised of 2 thin layers of
impervious material which house the rheopexic fluid.
The whole structure is designed to fit and feel as
though the wearer is wearing nothing more than a thick
layer of lycra. As a result the shoe will offer a
level of individual fit straight out the box that is
without current parallel. Although the shoe would
feel unsupportive due to its lack of rigidity, if the
wearer were to make a sudden movement in any direction
the fluid would kick into action and stiffen up in the
required plane to offer instantaneous support where
required. As soon as that movement is finished the
area would revert to its flexible state.
The shoe is designed to meet my idea of the perfect
performance shoe - lightweight, minimalist in feel,
unrestrictive but at the same time with confidence
building support. More Details.

August 2006 - Freestyle 2006 | Jordan Nu Retro IV
         6.92 / 10 I first drew this up back in 2004. I tried to
simplify and change up the Jordan IV but still try to
keep the pieces that made the Jordan IV so great. I
tried to update the look, by overlasting the forefoot
and using a TPU window for the visible air. TPU mesh
is used on the midfoot for added support that harkens
back to the original Jordan IVs. The inner bootie
also utilizes a grid like fabric mesh that mimics the
midfoot for comfort and ventilation.

 August 2006 - Freestyle 2006 | Puma Azzurri 2006
6.84 / 10 To celebrate Italy´s World Cup victory, Sindri created this light
training/lifestyle shoe . The Azzuri sports a new 3Way closure
system, it consists of three separate midfoot straps and a looped
kevlar woven elastic cord which weaves through channels in the
outsole and up the base of the foot where the cord is looped onto
each of the straps. The 3Way system offers a sleek look, an easily
adjustable fit and an evenly distributed upper pressure zone.
Other features of the Puma Azzurri 2006 include a molded hel cup, a
hidden midsole construction, a full length breatheble inner sleeve
and a combination of full grain and synthetic leather upper.

 August 2006 - Freestyle 2006 | Rbk BD 5
6.06 / 10 The UPPER is made of soft, full-grain leather for more comfort. It features a midfoot strap that adds support and locks down the foot in place. Beneath the strap there´s a zipper closure for a faster and easier fit. Its low-cut design gives more mobility to fast guards like Baron. With the molded TPU cage for support and stability, breaking ankles will only happen to opponents. The upper also features stretchable neoprene bands and an inner bootie for a snug fit.
The OUTSOLE is made of high abrasion rubber outsole for durability. Its herringbone pattern gives maximum traction for Baron's sharp cuts to the basket. It also features a PU sockliner for extra cushioning and comfort.
The PERFORMANCE features of the BD 5 are great. The Pump Auto/Off Smart Valve gives Baron a custom fit everytime he steps on the court. DMX Micro Heel adds low-profile, close to the ground cushioning, making Baron more agile on the floor. X-Beam on the shank area helps impact dispersion and torsional support. To wrap it up, DMX2 adds air movement for forefoot transitional cushioning.
The AESTHETICS of the BD 5 are street fashion-inspired. Rbk teamed up once again with graphic designer Mark Orduña, whose work titled "The Eastern Guard" is laser-etched to the leather upper. His collaboration truly expresses what Baron´s game is all about and also brings street credibility. Its fully asymmetrical design gives a modern look, making it an icon on and off the court.

 August 2006 - Freestyle 2006 | Puma CrossOver
5.82 / 10 My design was an attempt to create a sleek and simplistic shoe that
exemplified the Puma brand. The main feature of the shoe is the lacing,
which is on the lateral side of the foot. The hope is that this would
provide a more "locked down" feel for the foot, and also to make the shoe
more comfortable (by keeping the laces off the part of the foot that bends).
To keep the wearer from stepping on the laces, there is a pocket at the
heel of the shoe to tuck the laces in after they have been tied. The
cushioning is a large Puma Cell unit at the heel.
The main piece of the shoe is a thick mesh boot, that covers the whole foot
(the green portion of the rendering). This is covered in areas by leather,
and perforated leather for additional support. The result is intended to be
lightweight and comfortable.

 August 2006 - Freestyle 2006 | Venus Running
6.08 / 10 I call it Venus because I designed it after the Venus fly trap. It has a minimal design Venus heel cup, which is very light weight and minimal design. It has an elastic cage that is adjustable for the user. There are mesh vents in the upper which allow for light weight ventilation. Cuts in the upper offer greater flexibility while also adding to the breathability. T.P.U. support wings cradle the foot and contain the hooks for the adjustable cage. The midsole is a light weight foam with many flex grooves for enhanced flexibility. The outsole continues the design language from the upper with Venus lugs for excellent traction and durability.

 August 2006 - Freestyle 2006 | Nike Rhino
5.98 / 10 My inspiration to create this project was rhinoceros. This shoe is very massive, but dynamic and light.
Front and back are made by synthetic leather witch imitate real, hard rhinoceros leather.
Three bugles on left and right side of shoe imitate ribs, but act the same role like the real ribs. They hold tidy and safety foot inside the shoe.
