June 2007 - iPhone Inspired | iPhone Sprint
5.48 / 10 Having thought about this concept since the announcement of this month's contest, the design for the iPhone Sprint has been a work in progress. Taking cues from the iPhone's clean, simple, and elegant design, this mid-range (300-600 meters, possibly 800 meters for some) sprint spike was designed with minimalistic goals in mind that could achieve the ulimate in weight reduction without comprimsing support or fit. The entire shoe is comprised of a lightweight breathable mesh that is wrapped in a rigid TPU exoskeleton cage structure. The midfoot area of the spike plate is removed and replaced by this wrapped exoskeleton structure, which allows for significant weight reduction and maximum flexibility. Support and fit issues are avoided due to the running form seen in sprinting events, where the athlete stays on his/her toes for most of the race, avoiding any major stress in the arch or heel areas. The heel area is cradled in a minimalistic structure that is split on the bottom allowing for even further weight reduction. In the forefoot area, where the most stress and pressure is located, a support structure wraps up on the outside of the shoe, locking this area of the foot and preventing any ripping or tearing of the mesh. The spike plate contains 5 removable spikes that are strategically placed for traction and toe-off support. And last but not least, a complimentary Apple spike wrench is included as well.

June 2007 - iPhone Inspired | Nike Free 9.0 Apple
5.71 / 10 The 'Nike Free 9.0 Apple' is one of the most advanced training equipment a
runner could have in their arsenal. Not only does the athlete get the best
of Nikes performance technologies, but the shoe is also integrated via
Bluetooth to an Apple Iphone device with amazing information feedback.
The shoe stands on an altered Free outsole, which has slanted grooves to
propel the runner forward. The inner, much like the Presto, is made of one
formfitted piece with no stitches. (So it can and should be worn without
socks). It is made up of a heat desapating material to keep the foot cool.
The upper/outer is made of molded foamposite material that hugs the foot.
For further lockdown, two adjustable straps run across the midfoot and heel.
These are reinforced with a springy material for extra fit. Under the
foamposite a heel-counter is found to keep the runners heel in place. The
shoe-laces run through loops on the inside of the foamposite and are
easy-fastened with a lace-lock at the top.
Molded into the foamposite (under the Apple logo) a micro-chip and sensor is
found. It is entirely sealed and the shoe can be washed without damage to
it. The chip can after setup communicate with a runners handhelp Iphone. It
gives information directly onto the display about the distance, pace and
time. It also can give information on the weather condition and the
temperature and perspiration of the foot. The length of each stride can also
be sensed and logged.
A runner can pre-determine a pace or intervall training for the chip to keep
track of and alert when the runner is slacking by either differents voice
feedbacks and/or raising the bpm of the song being played. The chip easily
logs and keeps track of progress.
Lastly the chip can easily integrate with other runners passing by with the
same chip and get information (read out into earphones and saved) from that
runner, like their time, pace, current music, runners name etc. With the
runners information he can later be found on the internet (for further
contact, progress, logg etc). This option can be turned off.

 June 2007 - iPhone Inspired | Nike WWSW1
5.93 / 10 My design was partially inspired by what Steve (Jobs) would wear. Whenever he appears for public interviews, he wears the same black mockneck shirt, blue jeans, and running sneakers. In his recent appearance with Bill Gates, he quoted the Beatles saying to Gates "You and I have memories longer than the road that stretches out ahead." It was this that inspired me to give my design a nostalgic feature- the giant Nike swoosh from the old Waffle shoes. I tried to minimize the lines of the design and make it as simplistic as possible while still giving it a familiar running-shoe feel. However, the 'simple' design features many technological aspects- the d3o toe cap, and the nike free/360 and + technology in the sole. In keeping with the simple design and iphone styling, the shoe comes in only black and white colorways.

 June 2007 - iPhone Inspired | iRun
5.76 / 10 iRun revolutionizes the running shoe just the way the iphone
revolutionized cell phones. The iRun has a micro-computer built into
the heel of the shoe, that records and transmits information from
various sensors in the shoe. Sensors in the arch of the insole track
users heart rate and foot temperature, while sensors in the heel record
distance. Heart rate and distance information is transmitted by the
microcomputer to an ipod or iphone, where the information is displayed
for the user. iRun utilizes two layers of mesh for maximum comfort and
breathe-ability. The outer hexagonal mesh serves as an open
breathe-able structure for the smart mesh that lies beneath. The smart
mesh is designed to align its fibers based upon the temperature of the
foot. Smart fibers will align themselves to let heat out when the foot
is hot, and keep heat in when the foot is cool, making iRun the perfect
running shoe year-round.
The outsole of the of iRun is designed for cushioning and a healthy
stride. The heel is designed for maximum cushioning as the foot impacts
the ground. In the forefoot the outsole is segmented to allow the foot
to roll naturally from the heel to the toes.

June 2007 - iPhone Inspired | Nike iFresh
7.32 / 10 The first time i saw the iPhone, i liked the colors used in the interface :
small blue, green and orange squares. it reminded me of the fresh sneakers
designed in the 90s like the Nike AirMax180 , the Nike Air Tech Challenge,
the Nike AirMax 95 neon which were very trendy shoes. Nowadays, these shoes
are considered as hype and collectable sneakers. So, more and more we are
looking for colors in our clothes ,and more, in our phone.. This is why this
apple's product is very trendy. It is as serious as fresh...
That's why i decided to include some colors
in my shoe, keeping the black and metallic
base to remind of the iPhone. I really wanted
to go back to the colors and be fresh, but
staying serious and discreet.
The whole upper is made of a very smooth suede leather, the toe cap
is in patent leather to remind of the clean material of the iphone's screen
and finally the heel includes patent leather and clear plastic on a carbon
piece where whe can see the Apple logo.
I tryed to design something as simple as innovating, including new and luxe
materials. Inspiration & Details.
