 2008 3rd Theme - M3 vs GTR | GTR
5.23 / 10 The GTR is meant to be styled in a way that is classy, but still aggressive. The elegance of the shoe is attempted throug the minimal lateral appearance. The toe cap is made of patent leather to both provide a more protection and stability to the forefoot. Carbon fiber is used as the spring plate - and is also used in the ankle for ankle support. The medial side of the shoe is more exposed - the tongue is asymmetrical, sitting on the medial side of the foot.

 2008 3rd Theme - M3 vs GTR | Nike M3
         6.56 / 10 Nike M3 is a concept inspired by the BMW M3.
* The semi-transparent fading sole follows the modulation of the front mask.
The modulation of the sole gives a maximum flexibility.
The heel part of the sole is covered by the upper and by blending into it give the kicks a dinamic and aggressive look.
* The leather and canvas upper pattern incorporates a stylized BMW logo.
* The heel follows the shape of the rear bumper, back lights and spoiler.
The curved lines and aggressive shapes summon the spirit of the M3 into the NIKE M3 kicks.
You can see all the detail in the second extra image.
I also came up with a advertising slogan slogan that is a combination between the Nike slogan and a popular driver's quote.

 2008 3rd Theme - M3 vs GTR | BMW M3 Toddler Concept
6.17 / 10 The BMW M3 goes back to the basics, bringing both luxury and performance to its consumers. Drawing inspiration from this, I took a step in a different direction and set out bring this to toddlers footwear, as they take their feet for a "test drive" for the first time so to speak. The design features a flat, yet flexible phylon midsole to promote good walking for these children whose feet have not yet fully developed. A protective toe-wrap ensures that the child's toes are well-protected, for when they bump into objects and stub their toes. From the parents' standpoint, the design is very user-friendly as well. For the parents' interaction with the footwear, the tongue easily flips down to attach to the toe box via the velcro logo - this enables the footwear to remain fully open in order to easily slide the child's foot in without hassle (especially in those busy multi-tasking situations). Once the foot is in and the tongue is back in place, one simple velcro strap locks the foot in the footwear - no small laces to fumble with. Lastly, the side panel features molded rubber ports that are not only designed to engage the child's sense of touch, but are also designed as loop inserts for which the parent can easily attach an included lanyard to keep the shoes together and prevent accidental losing or dropping of the footwear when not in use.

 2008 3rd Theme - M3 vs GTR | M racing version
7.08 / 10 I believe that the BMW M3 may be the most well-balanced sport car in the world. It has a powerful shape and always delivers high-performance. When I used these images to design this shoe, I hope the shoe can be a high technology shape, and racing car outlook, and a high-performance motion. I designed the upper-look in a carbon texture. It gives people a motor sport feeling. Mid-foot chassis is TPU which has the texture of car paint. This will make players feel confident when they wear this shoe. The air intake on the toe cap was designed for leading in cool air. The air outlet on the quarter came from the so-called gills in the front side panels. The design of sole was used the exterior and materials of a high-performance tire which gives players best traction. In the case of iDrive button, it was designed to keep the foot locked-down and players could adjust it to fit their foot. It was designed for every player to feel more comfortable.

 2008 3rd Theme - M3 vs GTR | bmw
6.80 / 10 The unique details of a BMW are what tell the story of its character; from The iconic front grill to the wheel design to the interior materials, every detail is considered. I tried to do the same with my design, by paying the details like laces, tongue and footbed their just due.

 2008 3rd Theme - M3 vs GTR | Puma M-Series
8.21 / 10 The BMW M3 is renowned for its sports performance and handling, combined with the luxury of an executive car. I wanted to produce a trainer that like the BMW would be as suited to a track, as it would cruising round the streets in everyday life.
My answer to this is the PUMA- M series. Its luxury full grain upper is very clean and simple but under the surface is the technology to make this a performance shoe.
The moulded rubber outsole is designed so as pressure is applied to the toe area this would tighten the trim around the heel section of the foot making it very stable and able to get power through to the floor when needed.
The midsection of the sole has a carbon fibre support to make the arch and heel very stable. This was influenced by how BMW used a carbon roof to lower the centre of gravity.
I feel that with the M3 the iconic side and front vents which are needed to improve cooling really make this car stand out. This aspect of the design got me thinking about ways to provide air cooling to the foot. I have used a moulded vent on the side of the heel and under sole to allow air into the centre of the unit. This would also go though the phylon mould and absorb into a memory foam compound. As pressure is applied to the heel the phylon would provide cushioning and allow the memory foam to compress. The outer section of the foam mould is coated in a one way air permeable coating so as pressure is released from the heel the air is sucked in. As pressure is applied to the heel the foam compresses forcing the air upwards through the sock and then the cycle continues.

 2008 3rd Theme - M3 vs GTR | Nike Zoom M3
6.55 / 10 The Nike Zoom M3 is an imaginery collaboration between the designers of the BMW M3 and the Nike Basketball department. The mission was to create a fast, smooth and sophisticated looking shoe, that also was lightweight and had top performance.
The main concept was to build a sleek looking shell-upper that would cradle the engine, the source of power - the players foot. Then to have it fastened into place by a midfootstrap as to prevent the forceful engine from breaking out of its shell. Further building on this hot engine concept, a big ventilation/grill is placed on the sides to dissepate the heat buildup.
Lightweight materials are used throughout the shoe to reduce weight and the colour schemes are metallic in nature to reflect its machine inspiration.
All this adds up to make the Nike Zoom M3 the sleekest sneaker on the hardwood.

 2008 3rd Theme - M3 vs GTR | GTR - SilverWings
8.00 / 10 GTR is an amazing piece of art and makes me fascinated. So, what I did first is drawing a shoe exactly like the GTR, whole silver body, feels like shinning metal and with those round tail lights...But it doesn't feel good, I don't want to just copy it. Finally I dropped that plan and it takes quite a long time to re-design. I checked a lot photos about the car, and one of them, in which the doors of the car are open, reminds me a pair of wings. So, the idea of silver-wings was born out. I keep the lateral sides of the shoes silver metal feel and make it like a pair of wings. Meanwhile, use highly breathable material which is full of small air holes on the medial sides and add a strap to help tightening the shoe. Please check out the extra images for the sketch and the front-view.
