We open up the Air Kobe theme with a blast from the past (hints of adidas + Huarache). The shoe will feature a lace-less lock down system. The fit issue is split in two different areas: medial-arc portion and heel-ankle portion. The main structure is a Cobec upper with inner Spandex boot. In the medial zone a large structural strap wraps the whole shoe in the way to keep the foot glued to the midsole as well as providing support to the arc. In the heel area another strap allows heel counter and Cobec panels to work together cradling the heel and ankle.

With this design, Zenith wanted to bring it back to the old school. Obviously there are some strong hints at some older Nike shoes (Flight '89 comes to mind), yet the design still has a refreshingly new look. In a Laker colorway (assuming that Kobe is still on the Lakers), Zenith added a white elephant print on it - making it very similart to the Jordan 3's.
On the Medial side, there is an embossed swoosh to make the branding more subtle. Finally, Zenith wanted the materials of this shoe to be similar to the Air Max 2003s. So the white is suppose to be an irredescent material.

If the Huarache 2K4 was a success for Nike, then Thomas's 2K5 is certainly no slouch. It is an evolution of a shoe that evolved from many others. The shoe has a Pebax heel
counter whose strands extend around a visible Zoom Air
pocket which is encased in a Phylon midsole. A carbon
fiber midfoot support shank is used. Outsole has an
extended outrigger. It also uses regular herringbone
pattern and a modified waffle pattern. The upper is
laser engraved. Kobe's number 8 can be visible on the
lateral side, while his 3 championship rings can be
visible on the medial side.

Zoom SLR is inspired by the Mercedes Super car. The Mercedes SLR McLaren was inspired by the legendary 300 SLR Coupé of the 1950s, and is the perfect synthesis of tradition and innovation. Breathtaking performance, striking looks and the use of lightweight materials such as carbon fibre for the chassis make the SLR an unforgettable experience. In the same sense, the Zoom SLR takes Kobe's signature to another level with power and control. Notice the vents at the rear foot and the long sloping design at the top.

Newcomer Nikolov: "The shoe that I drawed is inspired by Kobe's incredible game style and I tryed to put a little retro style with the high and tight ankle part in a new shape. It combines solid ankle support with 2 part sole: a zoom tech (in blue) and a solid exterior part (in white ). The material for the upper is also in 2 parts: leather (in white) and plastic (in yellow), which happen to be the shoe's shell. The tongue is part of a inside sock and is made by porous, elastic material that is under the plastic shell for extra ankle support and ventilation."

Nestor's back with the Kobe 8 Signature Collection. The cushy and comfortable looking Air Zoom Kobe 2K5 looks more like a forward shoe than guard but is clean and simple in its design.. Check out the alternate Lakers colorway, including the black/gold version.

The Air Eight starts off with an inner
booty. It has a leather upper with a shiny black plastic shell
around the heel and contining around the shoe. This would be soft enough to
flex around the flex points (especially the highly functional forefoot one) but
more supportive in the heel. The midsole wraps into a
distinctive "AIR" anti-inversion system. Note that the upper hole of the "A" is
cut out revealing the inner booty to cool the foot discretely. This midsole
wraps stylistically around the air sole revealing it in certain areas. Black
traction Pods protrude from the midsole where they are needed. The lacing
system is simply lace holes except they go down farther into the upper and act
as more of a design element.

This shoe continues the evolution in the Flight 2k3 & the Zoom Huarache 2K4. A lightweight shell encapsulates a inner bootie which is connected to a hiiden toothed lacing system that also connects to the shell itself. The shell is made even lighter by the cut outs which introduce air to the foot. The nodes on the lateral sides release the grip of the teeth on the tooth laces, while the pulling the lace handles on the medial side tighten the laces. The colorway is wishful thinking, hoping Kobe comes to Chicago.
