2nd Place - Nike Shox VC II

The Shox VC II's year started with a bang but ended with a whimper. The release of the black colorway was well received by consumers and collectors alike. Unfortunately, like the Shox VC I, the II suffered from lack of exposure due to Vince Carter's season-ending injury. In terms of the shoe itself, the VC II was certainly all luxury. The inspiration of the shoe comes from a Bentley sports car. The ride is excessively trendy with a full-length heel/forefoot Shox cushioning system. The high resilient foam is similar to those used in automobile applications. The full grain and synthetic upper has an ultra rich feel and maximizes comfort. The interior features even more pampering for the foot. The quality and workmanship built into the shoe is top notch and makes the VC II well worthy of a LSOTY nomination

3rd Place - Adidas T-Mac II

The T-MAC II was not only Adidas' flagship product but also a statement to the entire basketball shoe industry. Like T-MAC's breakthrough year, the shoe itself broke through the barriers and became a high quality shoe comparable with any Nike statement product. The T-MAC II has a high quality built with great comfort and luxurious ride. With the lowest retail price of any other shoes on the nominated list, the T-MAC II was the best value for luxury shoe in 2003.

4th Place - Nike Air Max Uptempo Retro

Back in 1995, the Air Max Uptempo was the model by which all luxury-class shoes were judged upon. 8 years later, it remains one of the best in terms of great cushioning and high comfort. The superior quality upper and interior is a cushy sofa for your feet and the fit can be laced to snug like a baseball glove. Check out our detailed featured article.

5th Place - Nike Air Uptempo Maximum

The Air Uptempo Maximum was the overlooked shoe in this year's list. When given a chance, the Uptempo Maximum is able to show that it was up to the task in areas like quality, comfort, support and cushioning. The rich full-grain upper uses an ankle strap system that provides the best fit and safety of any shoe on this list. Max Air in the rear and forefoot provides pillow-like cushioning without compromising stability. For a big man looking for a luxury class shoe, the Air Uptempo Maximum would be among our top recommendations this year.
