2nd Place - Air Jordan VII Retro

The Air Jordan VII Retro was released in late 2002 with relative obscurity, yet it almost became the first model to snag two KG Awards this year. Compared to other Air Jordans Retro releases, the VII frenzy was relatively mild. The original colorway black/varsity-red/purple was accompanied by the white/flint-grey/french-blue Retro +. Surprisingly enough, the Retro + has seen a much higher demand in the marketplace than the OG colorway. However, the VII has yet to go quietly into the night. Nike has decided to re-release one of the most demanded collectible in the hobby today - the Air Jordan VII Olympic. Be prepared to see the VII Retro back in this nomination category once again next year. It'll be hard to beat then.

3rd Place - Air Jordan VIII Retro

The VIII Retro launched with a bang. The OG white/black/red colorway easily sold out on the east coast within a few days. The X straps, carpet tongues and crazy cross colors is what defines the VIII. The design cues are very close to the original and quality was solid as well. The rest of the colorways were all Retro + and did not see the same type of popularity. The Lows took the Retro to another level and the one strap design was clean and yet kept the traditional styling. The numerous colors and overall success of the release places the VIII high up on this list.
