Reebok Throwdown

Reebok XBeam Throwdown

(Sept. 2003)

Throw It Down Big Guy... Throw It Down! That's all we could imagine coming out of Bill Walton's mouth when we first purchased the XBeam Throwdown. After a short-term test, we were pleasantly surprised…

The XBeam Throwdown got off on the right foot with us. At $90 retail, it creates the impression it belongs in a higher class of shoes. The feeling didn’t change as they performed straight out of the box. You almost get the notion that you can jump higher with these shoes and at the very least, it was comparable to all of its closest competitors.

Comfort wise, we must say the Throwdown is on par with any entry-luxury level shoe out there. The PU sockliner offers maximum cushioning and comfort, while the synthetic leather upper with intuitively placed patent leather offers a clean look. This simple, no nonsense approach makes the shoe much more appealing than its sibling – the XBeam Franchise. If you give it a chance, the look will grow on you. Simple, clean and elegant is what comes to mind. The black/silver colorway is definitely one of the better looking Reebok releases of the year.
