| Overview: The Air Jordan IV launched the popularity of the Jordan line to new heights. They were sold out everywhere and everyone had to have a pair. The black/cement/red colorway launched the black shoe hysteria/trend when Jordan's Bulls wore black shoes for the playoffs. The IV's re-release in '99 is also what brought the retro craze to the game. Today, they are bought and sold more for its rising price value than for basketball reasons. However, a flood of fakes has drastically hurt the value of this shoe. In 2005, Nike released the Laser version of the Fire-Red and Black-Red in limited quantities. Both of the shoes sold out instantly and command instant premiums in the hobby. Be prepared to pay anywhere between 3-5 times Nike's original asking price of $175. |
