| Mark Miner (195 Artist Info Reply | 3:34:00 PM Saturday, June 03, 2006 My first day went in around 8:30. At around 9-10:30 had a meeting with HR. Here I did much of the paper work and got a crash course in the rules and also picked up my I.D. After this she gave me a quick tour of the adidas village. ( I have some shots I took while out here a lil..still uploading some. but can be seen on my blog http://inspireme-info.blogspot.com/ ) after this I went over to my department. So I met with some the designers and then was shown to my desk. Most if not all the designers now have Wacom Cintiq. I have used a wacom but not a contiq, it will take some getting used to, but most at work love it and you see some amazing work being done. That is a motivation and they were very kind in showing me some tips and getting me started. So then rest of day set up email and my desk and then got another tour by a cool guy Chang. He walked me around and showed me the cad dept, rapid prototyping facilities, development departments, marketing, apparel and more. I also was given an assignment and had lunch somewhere through it all, but it was amazing. I am still trying to take it all in. I met with my team and more on my second day. I will be keeping you guys updated and here to answer or help anyone . email me at mm@mark-miner.com be easy Mm |

Tony Hardman- thanks bro. whats really good with your pump fake if you never touch tha ball? ha its all good...but I played yesterday for a couple hours with some of the guys up at work. It was some good runs. Great way to end the week. I will have to get used to those rims it was a lil rough, but we got a couple games. Tony Hendrix- thanks man, desire and work ethic is where it is. I see much of that on this site and that is what it should be. Contest aside, I would like to see more process and development of an idea/ concept(s). Jignesh- Your on the right path. Doing work and posting here and on Core is a great way to be seen and get feedback. Are you a senior in High School? Paul- thanks bro, I went to school for the graphic design work. If you want to see more of my graphic design work check out ( http://www.mark-miner.com/mm-book-r.pdf ). I think you will learn and pick up terminology here and also on Core. A friend of mine Richard Kuchinsky has a great blog on footwear design and development. This blog could help out many whom want to see and know more about footwear design ( http://pullover.blogspot.com/ ). He has some great pics on there too! |

| jignesh tailor (34) Reply | 9:48:00 AM Thursday, June 01, 2006 Sup Mark, congrats on the new job. Judging from your work on here and Core77 I think that you deserve all the praise, recognition and definately respect you get. You work ethic is definately inspiring to a young designer such as myself (I'm 17 now). Once again well done on the job at adidas, hope you have a fun time there and move onto bigger and better things. Peace Jignesh T. jigneshtailor23@gmail.com |
| paul boucher (143 Reply | 9:38:00 AM Thursday, June 01, 2006 Mark - Man, what a great accomplishment! I really like your style. I have seen your work before on Core77 with the Nike Max Hover Designs. I was blown away by them. I am new to KG, I made the March Madness finals, so I didn't realize that you were on here as well. I really liked your Lebron design. I think that your designs are very well thought out. You ideate like a mad man. That is some work ethic. It is cool to see the huge number of variations you come up with when working with one design theme. I think that half of the shoes you sketched for the final Nike Max Hover I would buy right now!!! I also like how you do everything from industrial design to graphic design, ie. the box and the logo (Nike Max Hover). I have a graphic design degree and am learning more about the industrial side of it, as in construction of footwear and the functionality of its parts. I don't really know footwear terminology, but am learning. I think that because you have both of these things, it makes you very diverse in your skill set and I think you are going to be a great asset to Adidas. I can't wait to see what your first production shoe looks like. Congratulations and good luck. If you don't mind and have the time, let us know what your first day at Adidas is like, I think it would be interesting to know. Kind of like your first day in kindergarten, haha!!
