Hardman, you rocked it, man. I scored you a 9, but professional trainers general don't advise adding weight to shoes for training purposes. No doubt it builds strength in certain muscles, but it adds stress to tendons and ligaments. It also slows the action of quick-twitch muscles, which does not benefit them. There are better methods for strength building, such as hill repeats, stairs, rubber bands and parachutes which allow you to continue moving your feet quick while focusing resistance more precisely on muscles that provide power.
The shoe looks superb though! |

I only learned that in the last 3 months or so, since I joined this new running club. About a 3rd of us have been pulled together as a team, and are being coached by a former middle distance runner from University of Arkansas, who himself trained for 4 years under John McDonnell, the most successful track and field coach in NCAA history (by a large margin). It feels great to be coached by someone who really knows his stuff, especially have taken up running so much later in life.
And when it comes to running/training shoes, he knows way more than I do. He's worked for both adidas and Brooks, and recently opened his own running store just down the road from my office. |

Ryan: It's good to hear how you have taken to running and really dove into it! It must be exciting to get back into a sport like that and excel. Plus you get some extra footwear k-nowledge along the way to boot! Keep it up!
I wanted to share another little part of my concept that is not necessarily visible upon first glance. The camo is made up of warrior silhouettes to signify that whole mindset of "going to battle". I want to reiterate that the characters aren't mine, I just borrowed them temporarily since I didn't have time to draw my own =)

"Admin, when I click the "Chat" button on the homepage, it takes me directly to this topic instead of to the topic index...is that supposed to be happening?"
The copyright infringed silhouettes on Hardman's submission protested their unauthorized use! Being that they are ninjas, they were able to hijack this board fairly easily.
Fortunately Admin is a Sensei and was able to fend them off. Everything should now be working as intended.
