Dang Wayne so sorry to hear about your job. Keep your head up though! you might not want to hear it from a 16 year old, but i'm sure there's more to come, especially if you turn out some more work like that shoe above. It's great. The only things are 1) the tongue is really big...maybe its just how the rendering is...its just not my style. 2) with the three stripes on the side it could pass as an adidas shoe if it didnt have the rbk logo. just my thoughts. I really like the look of it. Keep up the great work |

Travis: Thanks for the encouragement...I hope to bounce back very soon.
yeah, the tongue is a lot bigger than it would be in reality...I tend exaggerate certain parts when I sketch.
as for the stripes...you have a good point. If I were going to put more thought into the concept I would probably adjust that. good call.
Lei: Thanks a lot. I was actually contacted by them on thursday and i'm going through the process right now. I would loveeeeeee to work there. Thanks again.
Jason: welcome. Perhaps you could explain the concept a little further. why did you mix the two shoes? I don't have a problem with it, i'm just wondering? thanks for sharing. |

Wayne: well, whenever i put 2k4 or 2k5 on my feet, it felt a lot more restrictive than what original huarache feels, so i wanted to create a shoe that is mid-cut but feels free behind the ankle, hence the elastic band. |

Wayne: cant talk long im at school but its great to hear that rbk is contacting you! the urban cowboy is a cool idea but that running shoe is AMAZING. im a runner so im biased but i love the heel midsole. i've been experimenting with drawing shox/a3-like heels like that shoes but that one really looks great. it might need to be just a bit thicker though...i dont know how much tension or whatever it could take. but that is a great shoe and if they produced it i would have like three pairs. good luck! |

Oh I see, I actually have an account on coroflot, but I'm not really lookin for a job, but there are tons of real talented people up there. Wayne, nice shoes, I'm really likin those boot inspired shoes, reminds me a bit of Converses winter edition shoes, but good job. The runnning shoe is real tight as well. I agree on what Travis said about the DMX bein to thin, but thats just a small modification. But I really like how it looks like a tipical running shoe, then again its totally different.
Jason, well yeah thats a hard part of designing shoes, needs work but you only have to learn it once. ANd you cant reall design shoes when the shape is totally off. My advice would be takin a pair of shoes and just sketchin them. Or check out this link:http://michaeld2lo.spymac.com/page9/page13/page13.html. Proportions by a pro. Michael Ditullo, he's actually part of this board, designed the 21 Jordan PE, so he knows what he's doin, learned stuff from that site as well. |

Travis: I agree. That piece on the heel would probably be too thin...and the shape of it might not be a good idea either but... I did it anyway. :)
Johnny: I don't really think my marker skills are that great but they used to be much worst. I don't know...I order a marker rendering book off amazon a few days ago so I plan to do a lot studying when it arrives. ey, you've heard it many times...keeping practing.

Tim: "i guess i'm failing art class, and my teachers think i'm lazy. but it's not that at all. i'm doing all i can to get better, but they treat it like i'm wasting my time doin all this work 'just for shoes'."
I'm not sure what u mean. Ur teachers feel you should use ur drawing skills for something other than shoes?
what sort of flak are u getting?
Anyhow, you line art is very good and I like the color blocking exploration. The outsole seems to be the strongest part of the shoe. The upper looks fairly standard. you could "spice" it up a little just to seperate it from shoes we've seen.
The shoe looks a bit tall but perhaps it's my screen..it distorts a little. good work.
Johnny: I think the smooth angles and the sharp angles clash a little bit. what do u think?
|
tim awalludin (200 )

| 5:48:00 PM Friday, January 12, 2007
wayne, "fairly standard" would be a mild way to put i, the upper is straight up bland. it does not give you a sense of a true signature model shoe. yeah, it's pretty obvious very little thought was put into the construction of the upper of the shoe. the design has been focused heavily on the super aggresive outsole. a ton of work put in, a ton of work left to be done.
yeah, it seems im not putting enough time into my school art projects, still-life studies and that kind of stuff. too much time spent working on shoe designs. i think you guys know, once you start designing something, there's that hook that just grabs you by the neck and says, "hey this could be something, now keep working!" you know what i mean, it's just near impossible to store it away in your flash drive and work whole heartedly on something like a black and white still life of some pots and pans, feel me?
thanks for your time

johnny szabo, my suggestion for learning the shapes of different shoes, march down to your local sporting goods store. pick up as many shoes as you can, hold them, just stare and study, feel them, soak it all up. if you have the money buy well designed shoes and bring them home and just study them like you would for an exam or something. haha, when you low on funds like myself you get alot of practice just looking. i've been doin it since i was a kid, people would always just be looking at me thinking "is that kid going to start eating those shoes or what?"
and no, i am not in college, im a senior in high school, busting my ass trying to make it just like all of you guys.
nice job with the design, you still have to work on your proportions. try making sure the shoe looks perferct proportionally before you start focusing on the design. yeah, that means being patient with trying to add all those details. "before a shoe looks tight, it has to look right." |

Travis Peterson (123 )

Tim: man i know what you mean to some extent. i have spiral notebooks that i fill with shoe drawings and classmates are always givin me crap about it. but just find a couple that support you and encourage the work, i know i have a few. also on your shoe: the upper reminds me of a skate shoe with your line on top because it curves the opposite of most shoes...unless its a strap i cant tell. i think that on your first post the 2nd from the top shoe on the left most exemplifies what im tryin to say, because it doesnt curve out. but i really like the outsole patterns, a couple remind me of track spikes which would be ideal for a running back such as LT.
johnny: i agree with wayne, the sharp edges clash with the curves. i really try to stay away from that in my designs. speaking of my designs, if i get time over the weekend maybe ill throw a couple up that i've been working on lately. |

Tim: I understand your passion for shoe design COMPLETELY...but if it starts intervering with your school work??? it's a problem... you gotta put things in perpective man...you can obtain all the shoe knowledge you want but it won't make much difference if your stuck in high school. Get your school work done and THEN work on shoes. Shoe companies doesn't hand out high school diplomas.
draw those pots and pans...it may seem like a waste of time now but i'll probably help you. |

Tim- I can definitely see where you are coming from. But that black and white still life is your fundamentals. Don't work on your dunks before your dribbling. But keep it strong on the side! BTW~Concept looks good so far. |
Rich Benares (644 )
| 9:51:00 PM Friday, January 12, 2007
Tim: Im with Tony and Wayne. Those still life's are truly the fundamentals when it comes to art. Even in college most colleges put students through what they call a Foundation year ( 1st year ) before they venture on to their actual majors. So more than likely these still lifes and figure drawings wont go away for a bit.
Use these basic classes now to build your foundation. In College I found the lessons I learned in figure drawing class really helped with my developmental sketches, because it taught me to love search lines, viewing planes which all help with thumbnails and rendering.
As Wayne said drawing pots and pans will probably help you, especially with perspective and the wonderful world of elipses.
All in all what you learn in HS, from still lifes, figure drawing to water color...will all come together and help you become a more well balanced artist in the future.

Well thanks for all the critics. Yeah the shape is still off a bit, been workin on that for nearly half a year now and still cant always get it right...Do you guys think thats real bad? Yeah I look a lot at shoes. I can spend like over an hour ata footlocker just starin at JS at NIkes.lol... Tim yeah I have to agree with you and them as well. You need fundamentals, reason for example I'm goin to start art school sometime now to work on my drawing skills even though I'm only in grade 9. SO yeah everyone has to go threw drawing pots and pans, but it'll only help improve your shoe drawing skills as well. But yeah I know when you've got a good idea and you want to spend all your time with it. I had a KObe concept, I havent posted here, couldnt svan it yet. But really liked it, so I even did sketches in History class in my history notebook. But yeah deffinately dont let it ruin your grades. So you in grade 11? On the logo good start, maye a bit too simple and wouldnt really interest someone that only see's how cool a logo is. Not whats actually on it, what it represents.

rich: i was just messing around with some ideas for a different cleat outsole concept. pretty much all the current cleats on the market have rougly the same shape and traction system. i think it's only a matter of time before football cleat design gets a huge face-lift, especially with vick in the game.
the nike MVP features a nike free"esque" toe area. it is not directly attached to the rest of the sole, allowing a greater amount of flexibility and torsion, for those sprinters and shoe shaking jukers (like myself, i wish) now the rest of the sole is one solid piece, materials are undecided, main idea would be to stress durability. but it's not just a flat foot sort of sole you see on the other guys. its molded some what in a sprinters position, with lateral movement support in the extensions. to top it off, the ever so popular fiberglass shank plate to keep it all together. so as you see, most of the work has been put into the performance of the shoe, with the style and personality issues to be worked on now. and the upper needs that little something to really set it off. i did not start out designing for anyone person, just decided to give LT, a reward of sorts, to go with the MVP win.
Stephen: you know there was no way i would not give my eagles some love, brian dawkins is always experimenting with different cleats anyway.
-we coming next year!!! kearse, mcnabb, lito gonna be back, next year is definitely the year of the eagle!

The key for me was, while studying also work/ intern. So began to design shoes while studying something different and this opened up my eyes to things in my graphics an visa versa with the footwear.
I learned most of the valuable information while at work, things would have not learned if in school. But I believe learning multiple directions of study while in school is a benefit. Since doing footwear professionally graphics has played a part and use it daily.
+things like drawing/ marker rendering skills didn't learn in school. But with programs like photoshop and illustrator, what is most widely used in the footwear industry, I did use in school for graphics and it helped.
I personally think you shouldn't take classes on programs. Those you can learn in your own time. Spend the time in school in concept development, team building, presentation skills, time management/ multitasking.
what are you interested in? have you chosen your major?

Sarah: I majored in accessories design at fashion institute of tech. ( belts, bags, shoes, etc.)
not a great endorsement for school but I learned a lot more doing internships...but that's just my experience. I suggest studying industrial design, podiatry, biomechanics, or accessories design. I guess you could throw illustration in there was well.
What school are you looking at? the uni. of cinncinati is a good choice I hear.

BA in art from Hendrix College, a small liberal arts school in Conway, AR. Later, 9 hours graphic design @ UCA (U of Central Arkansas).
I really did things backward, Sarah. Wanted to be a shoe designer while at Hendrix, but allowed other parts of my life to distract. Just sort of fell into a graphic design career, built a family and was rolling peacefully along when I came across this site. Submitted my work for the T-Mac 4 competition, won the trip to Portland to meet Mark's current teammates. That experience convinced me I could do this. But the family (wife and 2 kids) makes things a little harder. No entry level shoe design job would pay enough, so settled to seek freelance shoe projects while continuing my graphic design career full-time.
D'Wayne Edwards urged me to meet him at the WSA Show in August 05 where he thought I could maybe make some things happen. There I met Jake Rivas (Design Director at North Face), Dan Norton (current running footwear development director at Spira, and formerly of Puma, Brooks & adidas) who helped teach me other aspects of footwear design besides rendering.
Lastly I did a few designs freelance for a brand called Jezign before taking my first full-time shoe job at Wal-Mart. Of course I have Justin Taylor to thank for that. Wal-Mart contacted him first, but he'd just started with And 1, so he passed my name along. |

Steven, that is indeed a hot shoe (Jordan B'Loyal). But the piecing in the upper is quite different than the AJ VI. It might look okay in a Carmine colorway, but I don't think it would have the same charm that the AJ VI did. |

wayne, you can't just go losing stan smiths like that!
i'm already in college, majoring in ID (just in foundation this year though). i'm considering switching to a much cheaper school(if i get in). one thing about it though is that it puts less emphasis on getting you that Job After You Graduate.
did any of you get internships as a freshman? i don't know any computer programs, so it's very hard to find one. doesn't that seem a little twisted? shouldn't there be more to a prospective designer than a resume full of computer programs? |

sarah, if you can render many sketches very quickly and in good perspective, that's more important than computer programs. adobe and whatever other rendering programs can make it look pretty, but you need ideas and efficient ways to communicate your ideas. in ID, you'll soon figure that out, depending on where you're at. internships are tough, and some don't get them until after graduation, and some do get in sophomore year. create an ideation style, and you'll be fine... |

All of these companies seem to be looking for people with "experience" so I strongly suggest you find a school with a excellent co-op/internship program.
And you MUST learn illustrator..you must. please get started on that.

okay, not to seem stupid or anything, but whats the big deal with illustrator? what sets it apart from photoshop? please remember i have almost zero experience with these programs. the most i have done is limited use with filters and small things like that...
may i ask where your internships were? |

sarah: NYC. ok..that's what I thought.
I interned at garanimals (t-shirts), Lugz, Kenneth Cole (briefly), K-Swiss, fortune footwear, wathne( handbags) and Phat Farm.
You have to learn illustrator...as a shoe designer you may be asked to do specification sheets, line sheets, graphics, colorways, call outs, and the list goes on. You probably won't be doing any of that with a pen or pencil. Employers will expect you to know how use it( illustrator)...even if it's just for an internship. The first thing they ask is "can u use a computer"? better have the right answer.
but anyway, practice ur illustrator and then try to land an internships...better yet..you can try anyway..the worst they can say is no. If you need help finding a internship site in nyc..let me know. Wayner46@htmail.com |

Really nice sketch Wayne, realy likin the object of your inspiration. A butterfly and a shoe, who would think that would work. OK so I dont want to sound dumb, but I got a couple of questions. First college years go by 1=freshman, 2=sophomre, 3=junior, 4=senior?? Whats the difference between pjotoshop and illustrator? Which one is more useful to learn? Internship, is this when your school sends you to a company to get the feelin of what you are actually going to have to do after school? Right, cause if yes I don't see why internship sites would help Sarah, can someone fill me in on this, please?? |

Hey Johnny, internships are very helpful. It gives you valuable experience which is what a lot of companies want to see when they want to hire a recent graduate. It looks good on a resume as it shows that you know how to do the various tasks required by a shoe designer.
As for photoshop and illustrator. Its kind of hard to explain, cuz they both do their things very well. Illustrator is very useful as you will have to create outlines, spec sheets, tech packs, or blueprints I guess you could say of shoes. Photoshop in my opinion is used more for show like rendering a shoe or making images for a presentation board. |

Johnny, you are correct. It did happen pretty fast for me. But I have over 10 years experience as a graphic designer, in which I worked both full time and kept a list of freelance clients. Most of the freelence contracts included web design as well. So, yes, my footwear background was limited. But my portfolio shows a good understanding of athletic footwear, which comes from my varsity days, and my resume shows that I know how to work, i.e. manage projects through to completion and manage work relationships over extended periods of time. Successful work experience in a creative genre, confirmed by solid references, means a lot to any employer.
It's important to not become discouraged while you're young. It doesn't always happen exactly like you think it should. The important thing is that you keep pushing, take the opportunities that you get, and be patient. I remember feeling some level of panic at times about my career while I was in my 20s. But I never quit doing what I love doing, and that's being creative. In my case, it's amazing how a long list of what seemed like silly projects at the time combine now to form a solid professional background. It all comes together eventually. |

the difference between photoshop and illustrator?...hmmm...illustrator is vector based and photoshop is bitmap based( I think)...I don't know if that helps. let's see...photoshop is more painterly. Hopefully someone else can better explain.
I would learn illustrator before photoshop if i had to choose.
Thomas covered the internship question.

Johnny, like wayne said, Illustrator is vector based meaning you are working with a series of paths. Each path can be scaled larger or smaller without being distorted. Photoshop is pixel based meaning you are working with pixels or dots. Many pixels of color will make up a shape or line etc.
Here is an example of a vector based illustration I did in Adobe Illustrator. You see all lines are very smooth (not pixelated).
Hope this helps. |

Johnny, if you zoom in on a Photoshop image, you see pixels. Those pixels remain the same unless you erase, paint over, or color adjust them.
In Illustrator you're working with vector lines. Any of your lines can be manipulated at any point during the construction of your image. The lines can be straight, and controlled by the points (or anchors) at each end, or curved (a bezier line), hence controled by anchors AND handles.
If you have a full version of Photoshop, your "Paths" feature allows you to draw vectorized aids in your Photoshop documents. If you're wondering what Illustrator is like, but only have Photoshop, play around with Paths and you'll get an idea. Actually having Illustrator is much more fun, however. Here's how you do it anyway.
Open a new Photoshop document or image. Make sure your Paths window is open. In the Paths window, click the top right icon and select "New Path", name it and click Okay. Then select your Pen in the Tools box. Begin click-dragging it in various points in your image to create a shape then return back to your first point and click it. You've just created a closed path. Now, via the icon in the Paths window, you can "Stroke Path", which turns that path into a bitmap stroke using your current brush settings. Or you can "Select Path" which selects an area determined by your path, from which you can do a number of things. You'll just have to experiment from there.
By the way, none of this will make any sense unless you're actually doing it as you read it. Have fun. |

Are your sources telling you that this is what he'll wear in games when he returns? I've been hearing that he'll continue to wear an Exeter-designed shoe, "co-branded" Dunkman/Li Ning. This continues to be very intersting.
Speaking of Exeter, Nike has put a new CEO in place there... Clare Hamill

Ryan, I don't work for Li-ning but I do know a couple of guys working there. Actually, one of the KG finalists, Linsong Jin just joined Li-Ning a couple months ago. He's working with the head designer of Damon Jones shoe in basketball category. Maybe one day I will join Li-Ning too.
The Shaq signature shoe is actully designed by an Amercian consulting company called DRD (2 second pic)who has been working with Li-Ning for a while. The other 2 team shoes are designed internally. The shoes are being sold in China now. The retail price for the team shoe(first image) is about USD77 and the signature shoe is about USD102.
Exeter has become Li-Ning's partner before Li-Ning signed Shaq. The lastest "Bow" technology that's used on LiNing's running collection was developed by Dr.Frederick from Exeter. And the final shoe was co-developed by Li-Ning, Exeter and DRD.

Lei, that last Li-Ning black shoe is the best one I've seen yet. It is a huge brand in China and the designs may be more appealing to locals but so far it is hard to imagine them sell well here.
The contact info is made public on the Artist Series so that artists can communicate freely and even be contacted by industry insiders. However, sometimes if something smells fishy, it probably is. If Matthias is legit, why not post on the forum and introduce himself? Just a safe reminder to please becareful in your dealings with strangers who may or may not have your best interest at heart. |

Ian Gale and Arnaud Redon, congratulations to both you guys for your recent features in Sole Collector and Sneaker Marmalade, respectively.
And very special congrats to you, Arnaud, on your recent hiring at Le Coq Sportif. I'm excited to see that Le Coq is re-entering the performance market. On that note, I have a suggestion...
Joakim Noah will likely be entering the NBA in coming year. His dad, Yannick, as you probably know, wore Le Coq Sportif shoes and apparel for most of his career. Le Coq should sign Joakim to wear the brand in the NBA. AN YOU SHOULD DESIGN HIS SHOES!
Just thought I would float that little balloon out there, at no charge. Keep us posted on your career, dude! |

I was just checkin out solecollector online. It's kinda sad it aint available near me. Do you guys think they ship to HUngary? It says nothing about abroad shipments. Ryan could you maybe scan the pages which feature IAn and Arnaud, I'd be curious on those, if it aint too much of a hassel. Le Coq Sportif back in the bball shoe game, that would be wicked. COngrats Arnaud! |

Congrats - Ian Gale and Arnaud Redon. Ian I read your article in Sole Collector. It was very good. I was glad to see some of the work you have done for KG in the mag.
Ryan - Yes, if you could scan the Sneaker Marmalade issue I would love to see it. They only have issues 1-3 online.
Thanks

Wow, thx Ryan !
Sneaker Marmalade is going through the atlantic? Where did you get it Ryan ? Ah yep, maybe at Barnes & Noble ?
LCS is a small company for moment, but getting bigger and bigger. You'll see our first shot next year but performance shoes need time to be developed to a good quality level so..., but i have some cool prototypes all around my desk :)
For info, the company have been bought in december 2005, cause it was a bankrupt business. Approximately, they re-started from zero, today there are still some deficit budgets. So it's not easy to sign great athletes, especially Joakim Noah, who's gonna be huge, and comparing to the million dollars contract of Adidas or Nike, we can't challenge them.
I think we haven't got the American market, there is still a license, dating from the former direction, not sure if you will see on the american shelves some designs from a KG member. ^^
The interview was made in June 2006. At this time I had still my fresh student spirit, and since september I am in the business, I've learn a lot and my mind changed too, but globaly I'm proud of this interview.
If you have some comments about the mag, I will transfer it. I think they should like to have an american point of view.
Thanks a lot !
PS : i know, i've used "we" but its cause the company is small and almost everyday I say a friendly "hello" to the CEO. It's quite fun in here. |

Yo thanks Ryan...hopefully bigger things r on the horizon.
I would like to personally thank Kicksguide.com for providing the initial platform for me to display my skills while getting invaluable exposure among industry folk. However, I would like to especially thank Nick DePaula from Sole Collector for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime and for writing a great article.
Congrats to Arnaud as well!
by the way, I agree with something Ryan said earlier in this chat...
I couldnt agree with u more. I was and still am going through the same frustration, but slowly but surely i'm getting opportunities i wasn't getting before. I still think being from Barbados is one of my biggest obstacles, but I will get over that hump eventually.

right now i'm just fascinated by this shoe in all aspects of design and comfort, but especially its superb craftsmanship...(the amout of detail that must have gone into the design of the moldings for the foamposite upper, midsole, carbon fiber plate n the 6-piece outsole is just ridiculous) when u consider they're ONLY priced at US$150

I hope someone can help me!
I am looking for a pic or the name of a pair of Nike bball shoes that i owned when i was in Gr. 12 in 2002. I know exactly what they look like but cannot seem to find a pic of them anywhere. They were Carolina blue and white. The rubber sole was entirely blue except for a white swoosh. They had a visible air pocket on each heel that you could see from either side of the shoe but it didn't circle over the entire heel. It had the word 'AIR' printed over the air pocket in blue text. The heel was solid blue, with the remainder of the shoe mostly white. The back of the shoe had rubber coming up over it (like the Air Holistic). It had the swoosh on the outside of the shoe and a much smaller one on the innerside of the shoe, towards the back. The Air Holistic, Air Astonish, Air Max Elite TB and Air Zoom Huarache Elite TB all kind of remind me of them, but are definatly not the shoes i am looking for. If anyone can give me a name, a pic, a website or even point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. Thanks alot!!! |

I love this quote:
"The GPS sneakers, available in six designs, resemble most other running shoes. The two silver buttons — one to activate and one to cancel — are inconspicuous near the shoelaces."
It seems like an interesting idea for emergencies, but they seem to point out that invasion of privacy angle which I find odd. |

I know all of us are in here concentrating on design. That too is my main focus, but after reading an article in Sneaker Freaker I've also become interested in Brand Security. I find fake sneakers completely disgusting, as I'm sure all of you do. Putting a stop to the production and selling of these shoes seems like a very interesting and rewarding job. I was hoping the moderators might be able to post some links about this career. If there are other careers that we may not know about for people who would love to work in the sneaker community, I think that would be cool to hear about too. Thanks and keep up the good work KG. |

Hey Matt,
most people on this site use either Photoshop and/or illustrator to create final images of designs, however most of the development work is done with loose sketches, it is an invaluble skill to have. |

I use Photoshop CS3, but you can also use Illustrator CS3. I've even did some renderings in microsoft paint. For a 3-d design of a shoe? You will need 3DSmax or Maya, etc. |

you should really focus on the drawing with pencil on paper. then introduce markers. once you have those sills solid you can take your drawings into photoshop to give then a little zest. A tablet helps for drawing in photoshop but is not needed. If you want to do a really clean render yo will draw the shoe out in illustrator line art (at full-scale). then you bring that line art into photoshop to color and ad texture. I have know some guys that could render spectacular in illustrator but you really need to be an expert in the program to pull that off well.
Before you worry about any of that make sure you drawings are on point. no point in rendering a poorly proportioned shoe. Post some images of your drawings for feed back. Good Luck |

hey TC, here's the training course;
-draw 1 shoe per day with pencil on paper for 4 weeks. I like blue colour pencils the best for some reason.. Use underlays as much as you want.. we do too.. ;) -->get pictures or drawings from this site to get the proportions right; heights, length, sole thickness, lace position, etc.. try to draw in fluid long strokes, eventualy this will make your drawings look better even though in the beginning it might look messy..
-Scan your drawings and learn how to trace them in illustrator, or coreldraw if you have to. 1 per day for 1 week. The pen tool menu has 4 options that will become your best friends, together with the white and black arrow tool.. They will let you draw lines, and finetune them. Practice smooth curves and sharp corners by various combinations of clicking, dragging, and using the shift-key. The offset-path tool in the object menu is a good friend too, for creating stitch lines for example..
-These line drawings can be colored in in photoshop, corel painter, or in illustrator itself ( but it's harder to get all your shading and details right in Illu)
There's a few things to learn in photoshop; selecting areas, working in layers, importing textures, and coloring and shading.. I'll be happy to tell you once you get through the first 5 weeks :)

I can't find anything on this anywhere and I'm surprised. Is it me or is the quality of Nike shoes going down? The first I noticed this was a couple years ago when several retro Air Max shoes came out with rock hard air bags that did not protrude from the midsole. I assume its a way for them to cut costs but does anyone know the real story? Also, now I've recently seen some Jordan with fake carbon fiber flates that are really just plastic. Any info would be awesome! Thanks.
