I entered three designs in the FutureSole competition and the website said that "Designs may not be submitted to other competitions or for publication." so I was wondering if that means we can't post them, once the deadline's expired, just under this topic, not as an actual entry in the Artist Series. I spent a lot of time on them and I want to get as much help from all of you guys as possible.

Jason, I doubt you will be violating the rules by posting it here as you are neither submitting it to a competition or for publication (media use).

WOW Ben your Lebron VI is CRAZY!!

I actually didn't send my parent consent form in in time because I was out of town when the e-mail was sent out regarding the deadline for that..plus this semester has been challenging enough so I only had one solid design--so I'm not in--and I think that Lebron VI is going to be tough to beat.

Okay i know that kicksguide's admin is says it's okay to post but I don't want to get disqualified for a stupid reason like that so if Dwayne could confirm I'll post them. The site also says the designs become property of Nike and that made me a little more concerned.

I was wondering, where'd you'd gone Ben. MAn some really nice sketches. Both ideas are hot, lovin the designs. I like the secound a bit more, the LeBron is a bit too safisticated for my taste, but the both really represent your style of design. Congrats on those, looking forward to see if you win. If yeah, I'm looking forward on challenging you next year, when hopefully they'll let anybody enter, not just the states! :)

Nice work, Ben. But are you sure it's okay to post that stuff here? I personally would interpret "publication" to mean available to the public. Find out for sure, if you haven't already, and let us know. Your posts have been removed until then. This is a huge opportunity, and you don't want to screw around with your chances.

Ryan: Thanks for removing the images. You're probably right, it's not a great idea, I was just anxious to get feedback. Better to hold off though.

I was going to email the futuresole people about whether or not it's okay, but I emailed them about a question I had before and I didn't hear back. They only have a design-submission email address though so it's understandable.

Good call. If you want feedback, you can always email it to those who you know will give you honest, educated feedback. I understand your desire to see what kind of buzz it creates among the crowd. It's an ego boost when the response is good. But waiting is an exercise in patience, and it's good for you. Patience is a virtue.

I'm leaving for Oregon tomorrow morning. Unfortunately, I've been told I'm not allowed to take pictures at the headquarters. But, they're going to film me during the entire trip and put the footage on the website, so you should be able to check out the trip there.

Thanks very much Paul!

Well, I just got in to Portland. My flight from Boston to Chicago was delayed an hour and a half, and then my flight from Chicago to Portland was delayed 7 hours.

I missed dinner with Dwyane and Ginny, but, there were quite a few goodies waiting for me at my hotel room when I arrived. Unfortunately, I left the USB cord for my camera at home, but I'll have to take pictures when I get back.

Just got back guys... the campus was really, really awesome.

They ended up deciding on a tie for the winner, so me and Juan will each get 1st AND 2nd prize (macbook pro and ipod). We were also told that we're going to get to meet Tinker Hatfield at some point in the future.

Juan's design was really good, it was very sleek and unique looking. I'm sure when you see it you'll be impressed.

I got to see all the samples, sketches, tech packs, and things like that. It was really awesome, and I wish I could have taken pictures.

The people there were really great and helpful. It was a huge campus, but the people there made it feel much smaller than it actually was. Justin, Mark, and Dwayne were all really great about showing us the samples and sketches and things. Some of the stuff there is really crazy.

The best part of the day was when they brought out the resin mock-ups of our designs out. They're crazy, and they look like real shoes. They're really fragile though.

My mock-up is not actually exactly the same as my final design, because I changed the tooling of the shoe pretty late in the design process, so they had to essentially combine the upper of my final design with the tooling of my previous final design concept. It looks awesome though. I'll have to take pictures when I get back home.

I am extremely glad I got the chance to work with you, not that you needed my help at all, but it was great. Sorry we couldn't get that updated tooling on the z-corp.

Enjoy the Employee Store tomorrow and have a safe trip back home. Keep in touch.

Thats seriously amazing..D'wyane did a great job with putting it together...Justin awsome job....Nike seriously did a great job, Im so jealus this wasn't around when I was in high school...

And of course Ben...awsome job...Just keeping doing your thing...Im sure you took it all in and know to only go up from there...
Juan's shoe came out very nice too...Both of yours look terrific...

One question though..Did you guys work on your designs right after you found out about you winning and such?...And just email Justin and such?...Cuz Im guessing you didn't do that all while you were there...as it seems you only were for a couple days..I thought that you guys were gonna work on designs there, but Im guessing thats not how it worked?

Yes!!!! Absolutely. My dad on the other hand...he stocked a few pairs of Brooks.

Funny story about relating to that. On Monday, when we got to the campus, Juan was caught wearing a pair of vans. Luckily for him, he wears a size 9, so he got hooked up with a nice pair of samples (I think) to keep...Made me wish I'd worn something other than Nike as well! J/P...I got some nice stuff of my own that I'll have to take pictures of when I get back.

Thanks again for all the support guys!
