The Air Jordan X is known to the collectors as both the retirement shoe and the comeback shoe. When Michael walked away from the game the first time around, Nike paid tribute by listing all of his career achievements (up to 1993) at the bottom of the shoe. If that alone didn't stir your memories, Jordan's opponents were certainly haunted when Scottie Pippen, near the end of the 1994-1995 season, showed the sole of his X with the Jumpman logo to the camera and used his index finger to ask MJ to come back. Jordan returned with the Air Jordan X alright - but with a #45 stitched in on the side. In additional to that super rare exclusive colorway not available to the public, there were 5 NBA city exclusives: Chicago, New York, Orlando, Sacramento and Seattle - each of which commands well over $500 in mint condition.
Update: Now that the X has been retro'ed. Some of the original prices have cooled a bit. However, the Retro's used new colorways and most of the original limited editions are still hot collectibles.
